How Wood Grinding Machines Work
- The most important part of a sawdust hammer mill is the rotor. It’s inspected and adjusted using a dynamic balancer before leaving the factory, ensuring that even at high speeds (around 2900 rpm), the deviation is controlled within 5 grams. This ensures stable operation, less vibration, quieter noise, and longer-lasting performance.
- Once the wood enters the grinding chamber, the rotor begins rotating, driving the blades and hammers. The blades first cut the wood into small pieces, and then the hammers strike the wood with powerful force, completely pulverizing it.
- Both the blades and hammers are made of 65 manganese steel and hardened for increased strength.
- The hammer heads are welded with tungsten carbide, making them more wear-resistant than other materials. Even with extended grinding of hardwoods, they experience minimal wear. This reduces the need for frequent part replacement, significantly reducing maintenance costs.
- Finally, the blades and hammers pulverize the wood to the desired size. The wood is then discharged through a screen, completing the grinding process.
