Tree dryer, also known as rotary drum dryer, is a widely used industrial drying equipment. By continuously lifting materials and making them fully contact with hot air, it efficiently removes moisture from materials. In biomass pellet production lines, the tree dryer is mainly used to dry raw materials to a moisture content suitable for grinding and pelletizing. Moreover, dried sawdust can be used for biomass pellet pressing, charcoal production, and artificial board manufacturing.

Tree dryer is very important for wood processing plants and biomass pellet factories. It mainly handles sawdust, wood chips, shavings and small wood blocks, which are mostly waste and leftovers from wood production. Its main functions are as follows:

Prepare good materials for biomass pellets
Dry wet wood with high moisture (such as 50%) to 10%–12% moisture content. If moisture is too high, pellets will be loose and easy to break. If too low, pellets are hard to form and cost more energy.

Make pellets burn better with higher heat
Drier wood produces more effective heat. Drying improves the calorific value of biomass pellets, making them burn more fully and steadily, meeting high-quality fuel standards.

Provide qualified materials for panel production
Dried shavings and wood chips are main raw materials for particleboard and fiberboard. Stable moisture content is essential for later gluing and hot pressing.

Prepare good materials for biomass pellets
- The system uses a blower and an induced draft fan to create negative pressure, which moves materials toward the discharge port.
- Hot air passes directly through materials, so heat transfers fast and saves energy. We can control temperature accurately in different zones. Drying time can be adjusted by changing fan pressure and drum speed.
- The tree dryer can be installed horizontally. It is compact, saves space, and is easy to clean and maintain.
Make pellets burn better with higher heat
- The dryer has three layers of drums. The outer layer keeps heat inside, reducing heat loss by about 60% compared to single-drum dryers.
- When the drum rotates, lifting plates pick up and sprinkle materials, making them contact hot air fully. Materials flow through three drums, so drying time is longer and more even. Thermal efficiency is much higher.
- Hot gas passes through inner, middle and outer drums one by one, making full use of heat without waste.
Provide qualified materials for panel production
- The feeding and discharging ports are well sealed to prevent air leakage and dust.
- It can be equipped with a two-stage dust removal system: cyclone first, then bag filter. Exhaust gas is clean and meets environmental standards.
