Finally, the material is extruded from the ring mold die hole under the extrusion of the ring mold and pressure roller. Among them, the size and diameter of alfalfa pellets are adjustable. And there is no need to go through the conditioner to mature when making alfalfa fuel pellets.

How to make lucerne pellets for animal feed ?

01 Crushing the raw material
Generally lucerne is large in size, so the first step in making lucerne pellets is to reduce the size of the lucerne. In this process, the most commonly used processing equipment is the lucerne crusher, which has a high crushing efficiency and a long service life. The alfalfa is crushed to a powder of 2-3mm for the following mixing and pelletizing.
02 Mixing of raw materials
After crushing, the raw materials prepared according to the recipe and the crushed alfalfa powder need to be mixed well. The well-mixed raw material enters into the feeder of the pelletizer through the conveying equipment, and then enters into the conditioner. By inputting a certain amount of steam into the conditioner, the raw materials can be cooked, and the proteins in the raw materials will be pasty, which can greatly promote the digestion and absorption of the feed by the animals.
Then, the fully cooked raw material enters into the inside of the pelleting chamber, and the material fills the gap between the ring die and the pressure roller, and finally is converted into alfalfa pellets under the extrusion of the ring die and the pressure roller, and is discharged from the discharge port. The length of the alfalfa pellets can be adjusted by adjusting the cutter device to obtain the desired length of the alfalfa pellets.

Congratulations, you have finished pelletizing! However, it is important to note that the alfalfa pellets just coming out of the pelletizer have high temperature and humidity, which makes them very easy to be deformed or broken, and also leads to deterioration of the feed if it is stored directly. Therefore, the freshly made alfalfa pellets need to be cooled down to room temperature by the cooler. If your production is low, you can also choose to use natural air drying to reduce the temperature of alfalfa pellets. However, if your production volume is high, it is recommended that you use a RICHI Machinery countercurrent cooler, which is effective, fast and energy efficient.

How to make lucerne pellets for biomass fuel?
The production process of making alfalfa fuel pellets can be referred to biomass pellet production line. There are mainly: drying, crushing, pelletizing, cooling, packing and so on.
01 Drying of lucerne
First of all, the moisture content of fresh lucerne is relatively high, usually around 70%-80%, which is not suitable for direct pelletizing. The requirement of lucerne pellet machine for raw material moisture content is around 15%. Therefore, the first step in processing alfalfa fuel pellets needs to use a dryer to dry the alfalfa to a moisture content of about 15%.
02 Alfalfa crushing
Then, the alfalfa grass is crushed to 2-3mm powder by pulverizer. The finer the material is crushed, the better the combustion effect.
03 Pelletizing lucerne
The crushed alfalfa enters the pelletizer through the conveying equipment to be pelletized. The lucerne pellets machine is specially designed for producing alfalfa pellets. It adopts a feeder equipped with an anti-arching bin and a forced feeder, which can prevent the material from arching and enable the material to enter the pelletizing chamber smoothly to complete pelletizing. The material enters into the inside of the pelletizer, the machine runs normally, and the smooth, firm alfalfa pellets are discharged from the discharge port.
04 Cooling and packing of lucerne fuel pellets
