First, the mixed dry powder feed is fed into the conditioner, where it is thoroughly blended using steam. This step uses high temperature and moist heat to gelatinize the starch, making the feed pellets easier to digest.
The tempered material is then fed into the pressing zone, consisting of a ring die and rollers. The material is extruded through the die holes in the ring die into strips.
Next, a cutter on the outside of the ring die cuts the extruded strips into pellets of uniform length. These pellets are then fed into a cooler, ultimately forming hard, easily storable chicken feed pellets.
